3D Stereo / 360° Show
There were multiple key challenges for us in this project. Firstly we had to create one bespoke refinery using reference images taken from two different sites. We had to accurately model nine refinery plants which represented key stages in the oil production process. Additional site modelling was created to link everything together and dress the scene. The model was then used to create a series of fly throughs linking the plants together. As the sequence progresses, the sun moves through stages of the day.
The complete refinery model took 18 months to produce as the majority of the model needed to be created from scratch. Existing library assets didn’t have the correct technical layout or the level of detail required for the camera flight path.
The second challenge was the refinement processes. CG interiors and macro fluid dynamic were created to show variety in each process. Additionally a stereographic 3D animation of molecules which built the hydrocarbon structures or a 3D cloud that forms the product being refined by the refinement process.
