Fort Model Projection show
Form Atlarge were commissioned to refresh the exhibition spaces at Newhaven Fort. One of the concepts was to rejuvenate an existing fort model that was around 30 years old. The model was patched up and refurbished with a new glass case which housed a single data projector.
Elbow Productions did extensive research and created a script. From that an audio bed was recorded for me to work too. After discussion, a plan to produce a show along the lines of Michael Bentine’s Potty Time was formed.
Troop assets were modified or created to match the period. Then, rigged and animated using motion capture data. I had to make a photogrammetry CG model of the existing fort model to choreograph the animation show on. Motion graphic elements were also created and positioned so that final line-up could be done on site.

The final result was quiet powerful. the characters had a real holographic feel to them and we were able to get key information across to the general public in an entertaining way. It was noted that the Fort truly had a lot more fire power that was realised by members of staff.
